GUI: the Human & Computer Interaction

Stumbled across this interesting GUI (Graphical User Interface) video about human and computer interaction.

First, let’s start out with what GUI really means…

As described by Wikipedia:

graphical user interface (GUI) is a type of user interface item that allows people to interact with programs in more ways than typing such as computers; hand-held devices such as MP3 Players, Portable Media Players or Gaming devices; household appliances and office equipment with images rather than text commands.”

The overall concept itself seemed interesting before I even clicked to watch the video by C. Miller / 10gui.com.

The video talks about the mouse and desktop – and how they interact with a user. It discusses the confines of a keyboard and the text prompts, as well as, spatial possibilities (hint iPhone) and other things to come. There’s a lot of thought put into this idea of examining how we (the user) interacts so much with our hardware and software, and how things have evolved and still need to evolve.
