Going Interactive had the distinct pleasure of collaborating with the Ohio Department of Commerce to design and implement a cutting-edge digital visual interactive quiz for their prominent exhibit at the 2025 Ohio State Fair. The primary objective was to create an engaging and informative experience that would educate fair attendees about the diverse facts and crucial services offered by the Ohio Department of Commerce.

Innovative Implementation:

The “Exploration Commerce” quiz was seamlessly integrated into the main kiosk area of the Ohio Department of Commerce’s booth, featuring four dedicated Microsoft Surface digital tablet stations. This multi-station setup ensured efficient player flow and minimized wait times, even during peak hours. To further enhance the competitive spirit and provide immediate recognition, a stand-alone digital leaderboard was strategically positioned in the center back of the booth. This dynamic display offered real-time updates, showcasing the achievements of players who attained a high enough score to qualify for placement.

Dynamic Content and User Experience:

At the heart of the “Exploration Commerce” quiz was a robust question engine capable of dynamically pulling multiple-choice questions from an extensive pool of over 100 possibilities. This vast library ensured that repeat players encountered fresh content, maintaining engagement throughout the fair’s duration. Each participant was allocated a two-minute timeframe to answer as many questions as possible, fostering a fast-paced and exciting challenge. Upon completion, players’ scores were immediately displayed, providing instant feedback on their performance.

Recognizing the importance of continued engagement and information dissemination, an optional “See Leaderboard” button was made available to players. However, before accessing the leaderboard, participants were presented with a crucial opportunity to subscribe to the Ohio Department of Commerce’s email list. This strategic placement served as a highly effective mechanism for lead generation and allowed the Department to cultivate a direct line of communication with interested Ohio residents.

To ensure the quiz remained dynamic and competitive throughout the fair’s high-traffic environment, Going Interactive also provided the Ohio Department of Commerce with a user-friendly tool to clear the leaderboard daily. This feature allowed for a fresh start each day, encouraging new and returning players to compete for top honors.

Remarkable Results:

The “Exploration Commerce” quiz proved to be an overwhelming success, achieving significant engagement and data collection over the 10+ days of the Ohio State Fair. More than 2,000 individuals actively participated in the game, demonstrating its widespread appeal and captivating nature. Furthermore, the optional email subscription feature yielded impressive results, with over 500 email addresses successfully collected.

This project unequivocally demonstrated that the “Exploration Commerce” quiz was an excellent and highly engaging method for educating Ohio residents about the vital facts and diverse services provided by their state’s Department of Commerce.
